Should I Be Using a Clay Mask?
If you’re like me, you have questioned this at some point when you have looked at the ingredients: What benefits could clay possibly have for my face? Well let me tell you clay masks are a god send!
When it comes to skincare essentials, clay masks should be high up on your list if you have oily spot prone skin. Clay has many benefits for the skin, it absorbs excess oil, dirt and toxins giving you a truly deep cleanse. It gives your skin a powerful mineral boost leaving it feel refreshed and tightening your pores.
Cosmetic clays are composed of different minerals and each clay has different effects. The clay rejuvenates the skin due to its high mineral content and the clay itself exfoliates and stimulates blood circulation to the skin leaving it smoother and with a lovely glow. If you use a clay mask regularly it will assist with the removal of dead skin cells, improve circulation to the skin, help minimize the appearance of pores by removing debris from them and help your skin achieve that smooth healthy glow you have been longing for.
Although clay masks and cleansers are wonderful and have many benefits they may not suit everyone’s skin type for example if you have dry skin they will only dry it out even more. If you suffer from dry or sensitive skin look for masks containing white Kaolin because this does not draw out as much oil as the other cosmetic clays for example Bentonite. As the clay draws out oil, if it is used too often it may dry out even the oiliest of skin so be careful not to overdo it, 2-3 times a week is enough to reap the benefits.
