Most people associate losing weight with sticking to extremely strict diets that leave you miserable and hungry. This is definitely the wrong way to go about losing weight. As soon as your diet is over, you are going to “reward” yourself by eating loads of fattening foods. The best way to lose weight and keep it off is to make small, smart changes to your diet that make a big difference.
Drink More Water
Even though water is so important to every system in the body, most people do not hydrate their bodies properly. People also often do not realize that the initial signs of dehydration are hunger, fatigue, and headaches. Instead of reaching for a snack the next time you are hungry between meals, try having a glass of water first. If you have the opportunity to add lemon to the water, the lemon juice can speed your metabolism and help you burn fat more quickly.
Watch Your Portion Sizes
Just because a restaurant puts an enormous serving of pasta in front of you, this does not mean that you should eat all of it in one sitting. Overeating is often a larger problem for people with excess weight than making poor food choices. The recommended serving size for pasta, for example, is only approximately ½ a cup, but most people eat two or three times this amount in a restaurant.
Avoid Sodas and Other Sugary Drinks
Sugary drinks are packed with empty calories. This means that they are extremely caloric, but do not really have any benefit for your body. Sodas and other high-sugar drinks can also increase your cravings for other sweet foods. You can easily lose significant amounts of weight by simply replacing your sodas with sweet, extremely healthy, fresh fruit juice.
