Mix and Match Skincare Products?
Mix and match skincare products – so you have committed to a skincare brand. You have splashed out and bought the cleanser and the moisturiser. They’re working well but you feel that your skin needs added help.
You want to buy a toner and a face mask but the toner and mask in the brand you have bought previously are too expensive so you think you’ll just go and buy a less expensive brand to use with your existing products.
Is this OK?? The answer is NO.
Manufacturers of each brand have tried and tested all of their products including cleansers, toners, moisturisers, serums, masks etc. and they know that they gel together beautifully causing no adverse skin reactions.
Manufacturers do extensive research into the products they formulate and they are tested hundreds of times prior to them reaching the shops in order to ensure the best formula possible. Sticking to one brand will prevent adverse reactions and the use of different products in the range, designed to compliment each other, will give you the best possible result.
The manufacturers create the skincare products within a specific pH range (the measurement of the acids and alkaline in the skin). The cleanser will have a specific pH and so will the toner etc. The correct pH range in the skincare products will allow the skin to maintain its natural acidic pH level and in turn will determine the skins resistance to bacteria. If you use different products, the pH level of your skin may not return to that acidic range. If the skin is left in the alkaline range it gives bacteria the perfect conditions to grow and multiply causing problems such as acne, allergies, rashes and many other skin conditions.
So there you have it people, by using one skincare brand you are getting the benefits of extensive research and maximizing the effect of the products. You know if you stick to one product you are not going to inflict chemical warfare on your skin. You can feel safe in the knowledge that when you apply your skincare products together you’re not going to cause adverse reactions, some that may be as extreme as burning the skin. You are not a manufacturer of skincare products, you do not know which chemicals go well together and which will cause a bang. So please leave it to the experts and stick to one tried and tested brand.
