About Clearing Your Body of Scaly Skin
Whether your skin is flaky and scaly due to an ongoing skin condition or not, your skin is severely dehydrated. What you should know is that everybody deals with dry scaly skin at one point or another; you are not alone in this problem. Some people deal with this problem more often then others during certain times of the year, while others are simply prone to dry skin because of their skin type. Fortunately, there are ways to repair and rejuvenate your skin, and eliminate this problem.
Hydrate
Obviously, if your skin is so dry that it has become scaly, it needs moisture. Some great products to use directly on your skin are those that contain cocoa butter or Shea butter. Another great natural skin moisturizer is olive oil. These ingredients provide intense hydration to the skin, giving it a smooth, soft, and silky texture. To give your skin and body extra support, you should hydrate from the inside out by drinking plenty of water as well.
Exfoliate
Part of the reason that your skin is feeling scaly is because there is a large presence of dead skin cells. These dead skin cells are what give your skin that flaky feeling. By exfoliating, you can remove the dead skin, allowing new healthy skin cell production to take over. Do not over exfoliate to the point that your skin feels tender or irritated.
Sunscreen
Sun damage is the biggest culprit of dry and scaly skin. Wear protective clothing and a strong sunscreen no matter where you are going.
See a Skin Doctor
If your scaly skin persists, you may have a serious skin condition that will require special prescription treatments to address. A skin doctor can prescribe a cream or oral medication that can reduce irritation or inflammation that is causing the skin to be dry and scaly. As soon as you see signs of a persistent skin problem, be sure to seek help before it spreads or worsens.
If you have questions about clearing your body of scaly skin contact your local doctor, who will arrange for you to see a dermatologist.
