Achieve and Maintain Smooth Skin
Your skin is the first thing that people notice about you. It is a fast indicator of your age and your health—which is why most people are very interested in having clear, beautiful, smooth skin. Fortunately there are simple ways to achieve and maintain healthy, smooth skin.
Keep it Clean
Wash your skin in the morning and in the evening using cool to warm (never hot) water, and a cleanser formulated for your skin type. If you have dry or combination skin, look for a creamy cleanser that has gentle exfoliation. If you have oily skin, look for a gel cleanser that will remove excess oil.
Exfoliate
Every few days, use a gentle exfoliating scrub. Move your fingertips in a circular motion and apply light pressure. This will remove dirt, oil, dead skin cells, and rough patches to allow the younger, smooth skin underneath to show through.
Moisturize
After you clean your face, apply an oil-free moisturizer with a sunscreen that will protect your skin from UV rays. The hydration will keep up your skin’s elasticity, while the sunscreen will prevent over-drying, age spots, and problems with your skin tone.
Hydrate
Moisturizer will keep your skin hydrated on the surface, but truly smooth skin comes from thorough hydration. Drink at least eight glasses of water each day in order to keep your body fully hydrated so that your skin will remain healthy.
Visit the Dermatologist
A dermatologist can provide you with a skin analysis that will detect issues with your particular skin. He can also perform skin care procedures, such as laser resurfacing, microdermabrasion, and peels that will remove rough top layers of skin and reveal the smooth skin beneath.
Eat Right
Your skin thrives off of fatty acids and is protected by antioxidants. Eat plenty of foods that contain these nutrients such as nuts, eggs, and dark green leafy vegetables.
If you have questions about skincare contact your local doctor, who will arrange for you to see a dermatologist.
